Giving Back
Here at Snugabell Mom & Baby Gear, we believe in giving back to our community and getting involved in causes we believe in. We have launched initiatives in areas where we feel we can, in our own small way, make a difference to nursing moms and help work towards the normalization, mainstreaming and (re)acceptance of breastfeeding and breastfeeding in public in our culture.
We are proud to donate all of our PumpEase factory seconds to Royal Columbian Hospital located in our neighbouring community of New Westminster (and where Wendy had both of her children). The PumpEase are used by moms pumping for their babies in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). If there is anywhere in the world that breast pumps are used in abundance, it is in the NICU. We are very happy to share that Royal Columbian Hospital boasts the best outcomes for any NICU in the country and has since 1997.
Babies born prematurely or with other health problems are often simply too weak to suck and must be tube fed. So the moms of these babies pump breastmilk every few hours for weeks and months on end in order to give their babies the absolute best nutrition possible. It can be crucial to these babies' survival, especially if they have compromised immune systems. These little babies need the antibodies and lymphocytes in their mama's milk to help resist infections!
It isn't much when you look at the big picture surrounding giving birth to a premature baby, and all the physical, emotional and spiritual stresses that go hand-in-hand with that, however if we can make the days of these dedicated moms a wee bit easier by providing them with a pretty pumping support so that they can have their hands free to do other things while they pump, then we are certainly more than happy to do so.

Snugabell Mom & Baby Gear is a Corporate Friend of the United States Breastfeeding Committee.
The United States Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) is an independent nonprofit organization that was formed in 1998* in response to the Innocenti Declaration of 1990, of which the United States Agency for International Development was a co-sponsor. Among other recommendations, the Innocenti Declaration calls on every nation to establish a multisectoral national breastfeeding committee comprised of representatives from relevant government departments, non-governmental organizations, and health professional associations to coordinate national breastfeeding initiatives. USBC is now a coalition of more than 40 organizations that support its mission to improve the Nation’s health by working collaboratively to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding.
Snugabell Mom & Baby Gear is very proud to support the Best for Babes Foundation
ALL PROCEEDS from the sale of each Best for Babes PumpEase and Best for Babes "Miracle" door hanger is donated to the Best for Babes Foundation to help moms achieve their personal breastfeeding goals.
Best for Babes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to "giving breastfeeding a makeover" and to revealing and removing the "Booby Traps" - the barriers to breastfeeding that keep tripping women up! New moms don't need more judgement, pressure or to be discriminated against for nursing. They deserve to be cheered on, coached and celebrated!
Best for Babes is giving moms the boost they need to be successful. They are elevating breastfeeding to a world-class case and harnessing the power of celebrities, corporations, foundations, fashion, advertising, the medical community and the media to break down the barriers. Snugabell has been working with Best for Babes since June 2009 and is excited to be on-board as a Bronze Sponsor.
Finally, we are equally proud to donate PumpEase to Get Pumped! - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing breast milk to babies in Central Florida who, due to extraordinary circumstances, cannot be nursed by their biological mothers. Get Pumped! passes on our PumpEase to their donor moms to help them pump more milk for the recipient babies. A win-win!
